Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you teach children?

Yes, I have taught many young students over the years and would be more than happy to teach your children as well. My lower age limit is 8 years old. My lessons for younger students are fun and engaging, helping them to enjoy music as whole as well as singing it. Parents are welcome to sit in during lessons, as well as join in if they wish!

What do I need to bring to my first singing lesson?

Nothing at all, though a bottle of water and a small notepad wouldn't go a miss. Everything else will be provided for you during your first lesson.

Where do the lessons take place?

I teach my lessons from the Somerstown Community Centre, River's St, Portsmouth, Southsea PO5 4EY. It is a great place to learn to sing, with all the equipment we will need for our lessons. My full address will be provided upon booking your first singing lesson.

I want to prepare for an audition/performance/studio time - can we just do this?

Absolutely, I have helped many students prepare for a special occasion or a particular performance. Of course preparing for that event doesn't just simply mean singing that song over and over again - we will draw in other exercises to help you really get the most out of your voice.

My voice is very low/high/soft/gravely/nasel/etc - can you help me?

Yes, that really is my job! Helping students unlock their own ability to control their voice as they wish is a huge part of my job and something that I take great pride in. No matter how your voice sounds that comes from years of controlling your voice in a certain manner - imagine having the tools to be able to change that sound, controlling its paraters as you wish. This is the key to unlocking your ability to use your voice, whether for singing or public speaking.

I am not musical at all - can I still learn?

That is no problem at all, no prior musical experience needed! Whether you are a shy shower singer or dedicated hum-a-long/sing under your breath singing I have the lessons to help you reach your full vocal potentical.
